This offseason should be a fun one for the Tennessee Titans now that Robert Saleh is the new head coach. General manager Mike Borgonzi can really take this Titans team to a new level. The Titans have a franchise quarterback in Cam Ward, however, they have a lot of work to do to build around him.
There is reason to believe the Titans could quickly get back on the right track. Look at what Mike Vrabel did with the Patriots in his first season. They went from 4-13 to 14-3 and won the AFC East. Now, I’m not saying that it’s the true expectation for Saleh and the Titans, but it is a possibility.
While Titans fans should be excited for what could come in the offseason, there are also scenarios where they will see division rivals make solid moves that will provide more challenges for the Titans.
The Titans will now have to wonder what moves both the Texans and Jaguars make, who were fighting it out for the division in Week 18. Jacksonville ended up winning the AFC South, but Houston is no slouch. If they can add more on offense, they could be a serious threat to the entire league.
Titans fans must hope Texans don't land pending free agent RB
Sayre Bedinger from NFL Spin Zone recently listed the Texans as a perfect landing spot for Jets running back Breece Hall, who is set to hit free agency. An addition of Hall to the Texans should strongly concern the Titans.
"The Houston front office has shown an affinity in recent years for Iowa State players, and while that may simply be a coincidence, perhaps they feel like players coming from that offensive system are good fits for what they want to do," Bedringer wrote. "Regardless of where he played college football, Breece Hall is the type of every-down back the Texans need this offseason."
Adding Hall to a Houston offense that could establish the run to set up the pass could be a dynamic that opposing teams would fear. Houston already has a ferocious defense and giving them extra offensive power is something that Titans fans don’t want to have to deal with.
Tennessee is already trying to play catch up to not just one, but two teams in the AFC South. Even though Saleh is a great defensive mastermind, Houston gaining a solid rushing attack will give the Titans major trouble. Fans better hope that Houston, or anyone in the AFC South, doesn't land Hall.
