With the number one pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans select... We're assuming the end of that sentence will be 'Cam Ward, Quarterback, Miami' but no one can know for sure until the draft has come and gone.
There has been some discussions on if the Titans will hold onto the top pick in the draft or not. If the Titans were to trade the number one pick, the New York Giants seemed to be the team in the running to land it from them.
Well, according to ESPN insider Jordan Ranaan, that probably is not going to happen for the G-Men.
"Plan A was to get Matthew Stafford this offseason," Ranaan said on his podcast Breaking Big Blue. "Plan B appears to be try to get the No. 1 overall pick, that appears dead too."
Titans won't be dealing number one pick to Giants, per report
This makes sense considering the Titans' need for a quarterback and Ward being the best option in this draft at the position. If the free agency pool of quarterbacks had been better then maybe Tennessee could have made out like bandits by trading the pick but that's not the reality we lived in this offseason.
It's also not a shock that if any team wanted to pry the top pick in the draft away from the Titans that it'd be the Giants. Ranaan mentioned how the Giants wanted to trade for Matthew Stafford but with that plan going out the window, they wanted to pivot to trying to get Ward. But, as mentioned, the plean is "dead".
While a surprise team could come in and make the Titans a crazy offer to move out of the top spot, with the Giants looking like they're out of the running, it sure does look like Tennessee will be the first team to make a pick in the 2025 draft.
Cam Ward, welcome to Nashville.
