There is no greater embodiment of a UFL success story than Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey.

After dominating the developmental league for two seasons, Aubrey made the jump to the NFL, where he has been dominating ever since. He has either been a Pro Bowler, an All-Pro, or both every year since making the leap to the big leagues, and he has been defined by his exceptionally strong leg.

Interestingly enough, it was Titans special teams coach Bones Fassel who identified and coached Aubrey when he made that transition. Aubrey actually credits Fassel for discovering him as well as being a mentor. The Titans' special teams coordinator clearly has a thing for kickers with strong legs because after coaching Aubrey for two years, he joined the Titans, and the team signed Joey Slye to back-to-back one-year deals.

Titans could find their Brandon Aubrey in unlikeliest of places

The UFL's Championship Game is this weekend and Titans fans may want to keep their eyes peeled. There is another kicker with a strong leg who is dominating that league after nailing two 60+ yard field goals to advance them to the United Bowl.

The kicker in question is Tanner Brown, who plays for the Louisville Kings. Brown has made 90% of his attempts this season, including going three-for-three on 60+ yard kicks and 12-for-14 on kicks of 50+ yards.

For the sake of comparison, Slye hit 80% of his field goals last season, including going 9-of-14 on kicks of 50+ yards, meaning he only converted 64% of those kicks compared to 86% for Brown. To make things worse, Slye also missed a game last season, which isn't exactly what you are looking for from your kicker.

This is a move that makes so much sense, even if the Titans just bring him into training camp to compete with Slye for the job. Looking at Aubrey's success, every UFL kicker should be dying to work with Fassel, and he is just the kind of kicker that Fassel covets, so it is a potential match made in heaven.

One final benefit is that Slye is 30 years old, while Brown is only 26. Considering the longevity of kickers, that could mean that whoever signs Brown could realistically be solving a problem for 10+ years.
