The wide receiver room looks better for the Tennessee Titans after signing Wan’Dale Robinson in free agency and drafting Carnell Tate with the fourth overall pick. Cam Ward is heading into his second season and even though he showed signs of promise, the Titans needed to get him some help at wide receiver if they wanted to maximize his value on a rookie contract.
Tennessee’s top three wide receivers as of now should be Tate, Robinson, and Calvin Ridley, who many thought would be on his way out of Nashville. Instead, he should be around for at least another year after restructuring his contract earlier this offseason.
Fans might be thinking that the wide receiver room could be filled out, and you can definitely see why. However, Kristopher Knox from Bleacher Report has listed the Titans as a potential suitor for another wideout in the AFC East.
Titans pinned as potential fit for Bills' WR Keon Coleman
With the NFL Draft being over, there will be more free agent signings and even a trade or two across the league. Knox has listed Buffalo Bills wide receiver Keon Coleman as a potential trade target, and the Titans are listed as a potential suitor. Knox listed the trade value as a conditional 2027 5th-round pick.
"Coleman isn't a player who is likely to be moved immediately in the wake of the draft. However, receiver-needy teams should keep tabs on the 22-year-old and try to make a move over the summer." said Knox.
According to Bills’ beat reporter Sal Capaccio, general manager Brandon Beane said that teams “reached out to the Bills about Keon Coleman between the Combine and owner’s meetings” but that any interest was shut down. Obviously, he says this now, but we know that anything can happen and with the Bills drafting Skyler Bell and trading for D.J. Moore, Coleman could be in roster trouble with the Bills.
That's where the Titans should potentially capitalize on getting a receiver who has shown flashes of upside, but has also had some maturity issues, too. Coleman was a healthy scratch for multiple games last season and when the Bills fired Sean McDermott, many people thought that Coleman was as good as gone from Buffalo.
Clearly, that’s not the case as of right now. However, anything can change from now until the start of the season. If the Titans wanted to take a risk on Coleman who is in only Year 3 of his deal and does have the talent to succeed, no fans should be upset with it. Worst comes to worst, Coleman would provide extra depth.
If Buffalo was looking to move Coleman eventually, Mike Borgonzi should consider kicking the tires on his availability.
