The Tennessee Titans have been promoting competition at wide receiver all throughout training camp. Calvin Ridley is rookie quarterback Cam Ward's go-to target. That's pretty much all that's certain at the position.

Veteran Tyler Lockett will play the slot, and Van Jefferson is the favorite to start Week 1 outside. Behind them, rookies Elic Ayomanor and Chimere Dike are pushing for playing time. The sixth roster lock at receiver on the Titans is sophomore undrafted free agent Bryce Oliver.

Oliver might be Tennessee's most outstanding special teams player. Beyond that, the second-year pro has made consistent plays as a pass catcher at practice. Oliver is beginning to emerge as a legitimate option for the offense at the opportune time.

Titans WR Bryce Oliver is turning heads at the perfect time

The Titans held a joint practice with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday. Though Oliver had some up-and-down moments, he recorded one eye-popping catch. Oliver got the better of starting cornerback Zyon McCollum by making this contested leaping grab near the sideline.

Titans beat reporter Paul Kuharsky even called a poor Oliver rep "rare," proving how consistent he's been this offseason. A to Z Sports writer JT Ruhnke recently claimed Oliver has essentially won every one-v-one rep he's taken at training camp. The former Youngstown State standout is playing himself into Brian Callahan's wide receiver rotation.

The Titans have decisions to make at wide receiver. Fan-favorite undrafted free agent Xavier Restrepo, Ward's teammate at Miami, is attempting to convince the team to keep seven wideouts. If they do, veteran punt returner and receiver James Proche II may actually take that spot.

What the Titans don't have to decide is Oliver's fate. He's guaranteed himself a spot on the roster, both as a special teams ace and playmaker at receiver. With the calendar inching towards meaningful football, Oliver continues gaining momentum at Titans camp.
