This one Titans move could reshape their entire NFL Draft strategy

When Matt Miller posted his 2026 NFL Mock Draft earlier this week, he had the Tennessee Titans making some curious decisions.

It isn't unheard of for a mock draft to have the Titans spending their first pick on Jeremiyah Love, but Miller followed that up with Mike Borgonzi spending a second-round pick on a guard and a third-round pick on a receiver coming off a major injury.

Considering the team's massive need at EDGE, it seems highly unlikely that Borgonzi will pass on a trio of very good EDGEs at the top of the first round and then double down on that idea in the second and third rounds.

Titans should sign Pro Bowl DE before entering NFL Draft

Having said that, Miller's additions are intriguing. Love is already a fan favorite, and it is easy to see why Titans fans are intrigued with the idea of adding another playmaking running back to this franchise, considering the long legacy of elite ball-carriers in Tennessee.

Then, getting another young, talented player on the offensive line and a playmaking receiver who could be Cam Ward's go-to weapon of the future, and all of a sudden, you are looking at a roster littered with young talent on both sides of the ball.

If this is how the draft shakes out for Borgonzi and he goes with a best player available approach that leaves him without any help at EDGE, is that a death sentence for the 2026 roster, or can another move be made to bridge the gap at EDGE for another year?

There is one player on the market who the team can easily afford, who would alleviate the need for EDGE help for a season. That would be former L.A. Chargers and Buffalo Bills EDGE Joey Bosa.

No, Bosa isn't what he used to be when he was one of the best pass rushers in the NFL. However, people aren't talking enough about how he is coming off a season where he had his most tackles, TFLs, QB hits, PBUs, and forced fumbles since he was in his prime.

This is where context matters because Bosa isn't a fit for everyone, and he won't be worth the price tag for every defense. He should be a specialized role player whose job is to be a designated pass rusher, and that is exactly what the Titans need.

On early downs, there have already been hints that the Titans are going to move Jeffery Simmons or (more likely) John Franklin-Myers to the C-gap to play on the end of the line of scrimmage. They will play opposite Jermaine Johnson and Femi Oladejo, who should rotate at the other EDGE position.

On third down, Bosa would come in and move Franklin-Myers inside next to Simmons on the interior, and he and Johnson would pin their ears back as wide-nine EDGEs whose job is to get upfield and wreak havoc in the backfield.

If Bosa can't join a team that is chasing a ring, the Titans have more than enough tax-free money to entice him to come to Nashville, and Nick Bosa should be in his brother's ear, telling him how fun it is to play for a defensive mind like Robert Saleh.

National media analysts will look at it and say that the Titans are paying for a big-name player who is past his prime, but that just isn't true. Bosa showed that he is still capable of being effective last season, and he would be a perfect fit for what the Titans are lacking in the EDGE room this year.

This is a move that would have to wait until after the first day of the NFL Draft. However, if the Titans had the draft that Miller projected and added Bosa to this defense, it would be a masterstroke for Borgonzi and it would reinforce the idea that he is an expert roster builder.
