The Tennessee Titans' biggest move in free agency was signing wide receiver Calvin Ridley away from the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Since joining the Titans, Ridley has checked every box and looks like everything you want from a dangerous receiving threat...for the most part.

Over the last few weeks of training camp, starting quarterback Will Levis seemed to have a hard time finding Ridley on deep passes. Normally you would attribute that to the second-year quarterback, but Levis didn't seem to have trouble finding Tyler Boyd or Treylon Burks in practice and he has proven that he can connect with DeAndre Hopkins on deep attempts.

No, it seemed to be a specific issue with the timing being off between Levis and Ridley. That development had troubled Titans fans, but the final preseason game should ease those concerns for the most part.

Against the New Orleans Saints, Titans fans saw Levis and the starting offense for two drives. Both drives resulted in points (one touchdown, one field goal), and Levis connected with Ridley twice for 39 yards, including this 33 yard completion.

Levis and the starting offense only played four drives during the preseason. Levis and Ridleycombined for three receptions for 61 yards throughout their limited time together. Not only were the two very effective together, but everything looked easy from a rhythm and timing perspective.

Obviously, they were playing against backups, but Levis consistently delivered the ball to Ridley accurately enough for Ridley to turn on the jets and pick up yards after the catch.

The 2024 season starts in less than two weeks, and Levis and Ridley might not be perfectly in sync heading into Week 1, but that is understandable given all the changes to the offense. Don't forget, this isn't last year where Levis had one high-end receiver to throw it to in Hopkins. If it wasn't for Hopkins, Levis was going to get sacked before he got to his second read.

Now the Titans have options all over the field and a coaching staff that is going to put Levis in good situations. If Levis and Ridley can continue to thrive on the short-to-intermediate passes, then the deep ball will work itself out in time with repetition.

In the meantime, the threat of Ridley's speed and the willingness Levis has to throw the ball deep should stretch the defense enough to open things up all over the field for this new-look Titans offense.
