Titans training camp: Offensive players with the most on the line
By Will Lomas
Jha'Quan Jackson, WR
While Treylon Burks has to prove that he can play special teams, there are other ways that he could make his way to the game-day roster. That probably isn't the case for rookie sixth-round receiver Jha'Quan Jackson.
With Calvin Ridley, DeAndre Hopkins, Tyler Boyd, Burks, Kyle Philips, and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine on the roster, Jackson may not receive that many opportunities to make plays on offense in training camp. He is going to have to make a splash on special teams if he wants to see the field with consistency this season.
Jackson will have to beat out other options for the returner job, but that gig is his path to making an impact as a rookie.
I don't want to get too far ahead of myself considering Jackson is a Day Three rookie, but the Titans don't have a long-term solution at slot receiver considering Boyd is playing on a one-year contract. Jackson possesses the kind of twitch in his game that could see him develop into an option in the slot. Thriving as the returner this season could make a good impression on the staff.
From there, Jackson could focus on locking down a job at receiver. But, the first domino that needs to fall is winning the return job(s) in training camp.
