The Tennessee Titans came to be in 1997 when the Houston Oilers relocated the franchise to Nashville. They were the Tennessee Oilers for the first two years but changed their name to the Titans in 1999.

Despite their new city and name, it didn't take long for the Titans to be a force in the NFL, making it to the Super Bowl one year into the Tennessee Titans era (and third year in Tennessee). The Titans won the AFC in the 1999 season and faced the St. Louis Rams in Super Bowl XXXIV where they unfortunately lost a heartbreaker.

As Titans fans are well aware of, the team lost when Kevin Dyson couldn't quite get to the end zone. It's become known as "One Yard Short". Unfortunately, the Titans have not gotten back to the Super Bowl since losing to the Rams.
