In the coming weeks, we're going to find out a lot about these 2023 Tennessee Titans.
It seems like just yesterday that we were looking at a real, legitimate contender in the AFC. But, through a series of events, the Titans are now headed for a rebuild, and a youth movement is well on its way.
As they prepare for training camp, the Titans need to see a lot out of a few key players. There are three, in particular, who are facing a crucial summer ahead.
Treylon Burks, WR
I was one of the people who thought Treylon Burks was the best receiver in last year's draft. Maybe I am a sucker for the larger size of a prototypical, alpha type wide receiver. But, Burks' tape was too fun to watch and not come away thinking that this guy could be a monster in the NFL.
As a rookie, injuries limited Burks to just 11 games. The Titans' offense, overall, also limited Burks' ability to develop and earn some valuable reps. The quarterback position is obviously in flux, which will make things difficult on a young receiver trying to find his way.
But, training camp is going to be key for Burks to prove that, he's not only healthy, but he can grasp this offense and run with it. He needs to prove that, no matter who the quarterback ends up being Week 1, or even later in the season for that matter, he is good enough to be "that guy" for this offense.
