4. Inside Linebacker
The Titans are lacking top-end talent at inside linebacker, but have four potential options to play starting snaps for the team. Kenneth Murray Jr., Jack Gibbens, Otis Reese, and Cedric Gray should all vie for snaps whether part of a rotation or in more defined starter and backup roles.
Murray was a free agent addition from Los Angeles that was given a sizeable two year deal and should be first in line to be one of the starters. Gibbens is a third year player that has starting experience and has received praise from the coaching staff, Reese is a second year UDFA that flashed at times last season, and Gray is a fourth-round rookie that may have the most upside as a three-down player of this group.
I'd expect minimal drop-off if the Titans deal with injuries at middle linebacker given both the low level of top-end talent and the solid depth at the position. The Titans should be able to squeeze some special teams value out of a bottom of the roster competition that includes rookie seventh round pick James Williams and returning players Garret Wallow, Chance Campbell and Luke Gifford.
3. Quarterback
Will Levis enters 2024 as the unquestioned starting quarteback. Levis will be a key cog in how this season goes for the Titans and looks to have more help from his supporting cast entering the new campaign. The Kentucky product is showing off-field growth this offseason according to his GM.
Behind Levis, the Titans brought in Mason Rudolph, who went 3-1 last year as a starter for the Steelers when Kenny Pickett went down with injury. The veteran will compete with Malik Willis for the backup role, but Willis will need to show improvement from last season if he hopes to stay on the roster. Rudolph has shown he's capable of winning games should Levis miss time as his late season playoff run with the Steelers in 2023 showed.
