Will Levis under even more pressure in 2024 after recent bombshell report

Yes, we're putting the cart before the horse. But, it's worth talking about.

As the Tennessee Titans kick off Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season against the Chicago Bears, they are hopeful that all of the offseason work put in is going to pay dividends.

The offseason was all about adding talent on both sides of the ball, and lots of it. This Titans team looks to be one of the most-improved franchises around the NFL right now, adding tons of starters through free agency, via trade and even the draft.

Will Levis has a great supporting cast going into Year 2, and fans are excited to see what his potential turns out to be.

However, not everyone is sold on Levis just yet. There are obviously those who doubt his ability to cut it at the pro level, and who believe there was a reason for his draft fall last spring.

This is getting ahead of ourselves, but a recent bombshell report is worth talking about.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler peeled back the curtain in a recent column he wrote with other NFL insiders, and he dropped a major quote on a situation happening over in Dallas. With quarterback Dak Prescott still not having his new contract, the Cowboys are supposedly wanting to get a deal done. They'd like to extend him.

But, there is still no deal. And, Fowler gave us quite the tantalizing line in this column.

" ... a line from someone with direct knowledge of the situation midweek -- "looking like free agency at this point" -- gives me pause," Fowler wrote.

Fowler also said "people in Dallas admit this is complicated because Prescott isn't afraid of free agency" and that it's going to "take some work" to get this contract done.

That doesn't sound promising if you're a Cowboys fan.

Dak Prescott would be the perfect all-in move for the Titans in 2025

Again, this is absolutely nothing against Levis. We're hoping he takes a big step forward and is the franchise quarterback the Titans need. Personally, I believe he has all of the traits necessary to become a legitimate, franchise quarterback at this level.

But if he isn't, and I am wrong ... Prescott would be a major move.

This team's additions have the Titans set up to win in the near future. Veteran weapons like DeAndre Hopkins, Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd are receivers who make up a win-now receiving room. And, Prescott would have the opportunity to join a former teammate in running back Tony Pollard.

When you make the Prescott and Pollard connection, it doesn't sound as crazy now, does it?

Dak will be 32 years old by the start of the 2025 season, and with all of the veterans added on both sides of the ball for Tennessee, this team might actually be entering a "win-now" type of window. Therefore, Levis needs to have a monster season. He needs to show the Titans he can be their guy.

If not, well, it looks like Tennessee might have the perfect replacement come free agency next year.
