Identifying the Tennessee Titans core players on defense after free agency
By Will Lomas
1. Harold Landry, EDGE
When you include playoff games, Harold Landry has 24 sacks in his last 35 games. That is impressive by itself, but it is even more impressive when you remember that he was recovering from an ACL for half of those games.
Like Arden Key, Landry is only 27 years old and he still has several great years left in his career, but people seem to forget about him when you talk about the Titans defense. Yes, when you think about Tennessee the first name that comes to mind is Jeffery Simmons (more on him in a minute), but Landry has had two straight 10+ sack seasons and he is a consistent force as a pass rusher.
Whether the Titans spend a premium pick on an EDGE this year or not, Landry should be able to continue to dominate his matchups this season. When you think about how much Dennard Wilson likes to blitz, that chaos should give Landry more chances to pin his ears back on the outside and hunt quarterbacks without worrying about getting chipped by tight ends and running backs.
