Expect the Tennessee Titans to sign multiple starters before the draft

In the eyes of some people free agency is over and it is time to focus on the 2024 NFL Draft, but Tennessee Titans fans should keep one eye focused on free agency over the next few weeks.

Last year a Tennessee Titans team with fewer holes and less money still found a way to add two starters to the roster between the end of March and the 2023 NFL Draft.

On March 31st Ran Carthon signed tight end Trevon Wesco, and he ended up as the team's second tight end and had more snaps than the next two tight ends (Josh Whyle and Kevin Rader) combined.

Three weeks later they signed wide receiver Chris Moore who ended up playing more snaps than Derrick Henry last season.

Knowing what happened last year and after listening to what Ran Carthon and Brian Callahan said at the owners meeting last week, I think it is fair to expect the Titans to continue to make some moves in free agency.

Three positions the Tennessee Titans could still address in free agency

1. Offensive tackle
Possible targets: Mekhi Becton, Cam Fleming, Andrus Peat

The Tennessee Titans most tenured tackle right now is Nicholas Petit-Frere. It certainly seems like NPF is going to get a chance to compete for a starting tackle job under Bill Callahan, but even after the Titans draft a left tackle in the 2024 NFL Draft, they are going to need a veteran swing tackle to have waiting in the wings in case of an injury.

2. Safety
Possible targets: Justin Simmons, Marcus Maye, Julian Blackmon

Brian Callahan said that the Titans had some conversations with safeties, but they are waiting for the market to come down before they make a signing. There are plenty of safeties left that should be starters next season, but the Tennessee Titans have to decide what they are looking for.

Do they want the name value/leadership of a guy like Justin Simmons to add even more clout to this secondary, or do they want someone like Maye or Blackmon who is a better scheme fit next to Amani Hooker?

3. Linebacker
Possible targets: Shaq Leonard, Isaiah Simmons

Linebacker is thin, and ultimately I think that Dr. Gibby is going to get another shot to start. While I don't love that idea, it is no secret that he is a high-level athlete who made a name for himself (literally) in training camp because of how smart he was.

Shaq Leonard would be a perfect bridge guy for the Tennessee Titans and that would also make Indianapolis Colts fans furious, but Simmons is also an interesting fit in this aggressive defense.
