No. 3 RB

The battle for the No. 3 running back spot behind Tyjae Spears and Tony Pollard received a little clarity when the Titans surprisingly released undrafted ball carrier Dillon Johnson in July. That narrows the list down to Hassan Haskins, Chestnut, and Jabari Small.

Chestnut won the gig last season almost by default. Haskins was arrested last June for an alleged domestic dispute, went on injured reserve in August, and was placed on the Commissioner Exempt List just days later. Haskins wasn't heard from again until this offseason. The Titans have stuck by their third-year Michigan talent, and he entered training camp in better favor under a new coaching staff.

Haskins has looked the most explosive of the backup running backs in practice. Small, an undersized scat-back that played locally at The University of Tennessee, scored a big-time touchdown in scrimmage last week. Chestnut is used to writing underdog stories. The Sacred Heart alum is attempting to make his third straight 53-man roster.

Haskins, Chestnut, and Small figure to receive considerable opportunities versus San Francisco. Pollard and Spears aren't expected to see sizable workloads. Pay attention to the pecking order for Tennessee's three backup running backs vying for one roster spot.
