Tennessee Titans fans had to deal with months of speculation that culminated in the first pick of the Ran Carthon and Mike Vrabel "collaboration" era in Tennessee.
It seemed like the Tennessee Titans were going to get their chance to steal Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud by trading up to the third pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Unfortunately, that didn't happen and the dream of a fun offense in 2023 disappeared with it.
The Titans helplessly watched the rest of the AFC South come away with potential franchise quarterbacks with C.J. Stroud going to the Houston Texans and Anthony Richardson going to the Indianapolis Colts.
With Paris Johnson Jr. off the board inside the top 10, there were a lot of prospects to like at 11 but very few prospects to love. Without a partner to trade down with, the Tennessee Titans selected Peter Skoronski the offensive lineman from Northwestern.
What does this pick do for the Tennessee Titans
It is hard to criticize a pick where the Tennessee Titans end up with one of the safest players in the draft with an immediate path to starting. More importantly, they didn't draft Will Levis
For my own sanity, I am going to say that Skoronski is going to get a real shot at left tackle before being kicked inside to guard. That means that Jamarco Jones will be moved back to his backup role and the Tennessee Titans offensive line will look like this:
LT: Andre Dillard/Peter Skoronski
LG: Peter Skoronski/Andre Dillard
C: Aaron Brewer or Will Levis
RG: Daniel Brunskill
RT: Nicholas Petit-Frere
In an interview with 104.5 earlier in the week, Taylor Lewan called Skoronski the best offensive tackle in this class and raved about his technique. He was also one of only three offensive linemen in this draft class to get a true first-round grade from Dane Brugler in his draft guide and it is easy to see why.
Whether it is hyperbolic or not, the comparisons for Skoronski have been guys like Alijah Vera-Tucker and Zack Martin who are guys who can be very good tackles or elite guards. If he lives up to those expectations, I don't know which player on the board would have been a better option.
Grade: A-
