Even though Robert Saleh’s head coaching tenure with the New York Jets didn’t work out well, he certainly was not the issue. Was he perfect? Absolutely not. At the same time, the Jets have gotten worse under Aaron Glenn since firing Saleh.
After Saleh went back to San Francisco as their defensive coordinator and shined as expected, he was given a second chance at a head coaching job with the Tennessee Titans. It was a home run hire by the Titans because not only did Tennessee’s defense need a vast improvement, but Saleh is a player’s coach who knows how to get the best out of everyone.
Prior to the Titans hiring Saleh, we already knew that they were going to be facing the Jets. So, when he was appointed, it was a guarantee that Saleh would get the chance to face his old team as a new head coach in Tennessee. Then as games started being confirmed leading up to the NFL schedule release, it was reported that the Titans would host the Jets in Week 1.
Tennessee Titans Week 1 loss prediction would have fans in disbelief
Saleh wil get his chance to seek revenge on the team that clearly scapegoated him in 2024, and Titans fans can’t wait to see him prove that he was never the problem within the Jets' organization. However, anything is possible and we do have to deal with the reality that there is a world where the Jets could come into Nashville and beat Saleh’s Titans/
That’s exactly what Conor Orr from Sports Illustrated thinks after releasing his 100 bold predictions for the 2026 season. One of Orr’s predictions has the Jets going into Nashville and beating Saleh and the Titans in Week 1. Then Orr said that the Jets would lose their next give games.
There is no denying the Jets improved their roster this offseason, especially through the 2026 NLF Draft. However, having a great offseason doesn’t mean anything if the on-the-field production doesn’t come to light. It’s happened a lot with the Jets in recent memory, and there’s no doubt it could happen again in 2026.
The Titans are in a new era, and they have the chance to get it started on the right foot against the team that made it possible for them to hire Saleh this past offseason. Losing to the Jets in Week 1 would be unacceptable, especially when you think about the stability the Titans have built this offseason.
