The NFL Draft is less than two months away and the Tennessee Titans are scheduled to own a top-five pick at No. 4 overall. Tennessee has the resources to become an immediately competitive football team in 2026.

They have finished 6-28 the last two seasons and with Robert Saleh stepping in as the new head coach, he will have the chance to build this team up with Mike Borgonzi. While Tennessee has a massive amount of needs to address, this is the chance for them to start something special.

The AFC South has become a tough division with Jacksonville and Houston leading the way. Indianapolis seems to be stuck in mediocrity because they can’t figure out their quarterback situation. That leaves Tennessee at the bottom, but they do have a young rising quarterback in Cam Ward to build around.

While free agency is just starting, it’s not the ideal way to fix a team. The draft is where you build your roster with development of young players. Tennessee will have the chance to acquire one of the top talents in this draft class at No. 4 overall. That is unless the Titans decide to trade back to acquire more draft picks, just like Gary Davenport from Bleacher Report is suggesting.

Titans mocked to draft trade with Cowboys that makes Jerry Jones look foolish

In this mock trade that Davenport put together, it has the Titans trading out of the 4th overall pick along with a 3rd-round pick this year in exchange for two first-round picks from the Cowboys (No. 14 & a 2027 first-round pick).

"The Tennessee Titans need an edge-rusher too. But Tennessee's needs go well beyond that, and a trade back would allow the team to address multiple needs while keeping a pair of picks inside the top 20." said Davenport.

Jerry Jones has shown that he’s not afraid to take a swing to get what he wants. Look at what the Cowboys did by trading Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers right before the start of the 2025 season. If the Cowboys were to offer a first-round pick in 2027 to and still give Tennessee the chance to pick in the top-15, I don’t know how Borgonzi doesn’t immediately take this deal.

While the hope is that the Titans will have a one-year 180-turnaround like the Patriots just had, this process could very well take some time. Getting the chance to pick twice in the 2027 draft may be a homerun setup for the Titans as there will be just as many, if not more talented players than in this upcoming draft.

While Jones and the Cowboys would have the chance to acquire a top tier player, it’s a massive risk and they would be trading away future draft capital for a player that ultimately may not work out for them. The Titans should think long and hard about this kind of offer if it is presented to them, whether it’s from the Cowboys or any other team.
