The Tennessee Titans made the bold decision to fire head coach Mike Vrabel last offseason despite him accumulating a record of 54-45 throughout six seasons in charge. Owner Amy Adams Strunk replaced him with Brian Callahan, who is currently 3-11 in his first season. The initial belief was that Vrabel would immediately get another head coaching gig, but that did not come to fruition.
After being passed over for the opportunities he interviewed for, Vrabel landed with the Cleveland Browns in a coaching and personnel consultant role. With another coaching cycle fast approaching, Vrabel is expected to be an in-demand candidate. In fact, one NFL analyst believes he already knows where he'll be coaching next season.
NFL analyst claims Mike Vrabel knows where he'll coach in 2025
ESPN NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky recently made an appearance on The Pat McAfee show. McAfee brought up Vrabel's name in a conversation about the upcoming coaching cycle. Orlovsky was quick to offer a potentially juicy nugget.
"I think Vrabel's spoken for," Orlovsky said. McAfree and his co-hosts attempted to push Orlovsky further, though he remained mostly tongue-in-cheek with his replies. "I just think Vrabel probably has a very clear site and path with where he's likely going to be coaching," he added. "He'll be coaching football," he added when McAfee asked if he was referring to college or the NFL. "I think there's a vision for where he likely ends up coaching next year."
McAfee and co-hosts make strong remarks in regards to Ohio State throughout the now viral clip. Vrabel is a Buckeyes alum both as player and coach. He's an Ohio native that played for the program from 1993-1996 before getting his start in coaching at his alma mater as linebackers coach (2011) and defensive line coach (2012-13).
It's also to connect Vrabel with several potential NFL head coaching openings. The Chicago Bears have already relieved head coach Matt Eberflus of his duties. Vrabel played for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2009 and 2010. Current Bears GM Ryan Poles was a scouting assistant (2009) and college scouting coordinator (2010) throughout that two-year tenure and two are said to have maintained a strong relationship.
There's also the Las Vegas Raiders to consider. In the middle of a frustrating 2-12 season, GM Tom Telesco may make head coach Antonio Pierce one-and-done. Former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady now owns a percentage of the Raiders and could influence them to hire Vrabel after the pair won three Super Bowls together.
Indications are that Vrabel will be a head coach somewhere in 2025.
