Back in 2022, it seemed like Kyle Philips was on his way to being a productive receiver for the Tennessee Titans. After the team selected him in the fifth round of the 2022 Draft, he quickly announced his presence with six receptions for 66 yards in his very first game. He also returned four punts for a total of 62 yards. Unfortunately, Philips would only add two more catches and 12 more yards on the season, as a hamstring injury limited him to only four games.

Only able to play nine games in his second season, Philips recorded 15 receptions for 181 yards. The Titans eventually released the wide receiver in 2024, and he spent the year on the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad, helping them win a Super Bowl ring. Now, as training camp approaches for the 2025 season, Philips is with his third team, hoping to carve out a role on the Las Vegas Raiders.

Former Titans receiver Kyle Philips will try to establish himself with Raiders

Las Vegas was one of the worst teams in the NFL last season, winning just four games. However, the Raiders had what they’re hoping is a transformative offseason, hiring Pete Carroll, trading for Geno Smith, and drafting Ashton Jeanty. While those moves were the highlights of the offseason, Vegas made several other moves that should help the team improve its win total.

Among those moves were adding promising young receivers to a concerning wide receiver group. With Jakobi Meyers returning, the Raiders drafted Jack Bech, Dont'e Thornton Jr., and Tommy Mellott. The young wideouts have already turned heads during the offseason program, and they’ll now enter training camp with expectations of being year-one contributors.

If the young guys deliver for Vegas, Philips will have a hard time carving out a role for himself. That’s why training camp will be big for the former Titan, as he must prove he can either be a contributor or a valuable depth piece.
