The Tennessee Titans spent the fourth overall pick on Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate. In doing so, they've ensured that second-year quarterback and last year's number one overall pick Cam Ward will have a new WR1 to throw to.
Mike Clay of ESPN took a swing at predicting some rookie numbers for 2026 and Titans fans will like what he thinks the season has in store for Tate. He not only had Tate leading the rookie receiving class but had him putting together an excellent rookie campaign, finishing with 1,065 yards and five touchdowns.
This would be a great showing from Tate in his first year in the league and it'd leave Titans fans clamoring for more. The hope is that he and Ward can get on the same page quickly and have the kind of chemistry that top quarterback and wide receiver pairings have with one another. If so, it should make for a nice sophomore season for Ward.
ESPN prediction for Carnell Tate would be music to Titans fans' ears
The Titans have put in the work to make sure that Ward has a better group of receivers to throw to. They drafted Tate, of course, but also signed Wan'Dale Robinson in free agency, reuniting him with Brian Daboll from their days in New York together. Calvin Ridley is also returning and he'll serve as a nice veteran presence for Tate as he finds his footing in the NFL.
The AFC South is wide open and if Ward and Tate can form a fast connection, Tennessee could be in the running just as much as the other three teams are. If Tate finishes the year with over 1,000 yards and five touchdowns, that'd be a lovely start for the Ohio State product. Fingers crossed that these numbers -- or even better stats -- come to fruition for Carnell Tate in 2026.
