What gives?

The Tennessee Titans made the wise decision to revamp their offensive line this offseason. General manager Mike Borgonzi signed Dan Moore and Kevin Zeitler to lucrative contracts in free agency to help protect rookie quarterback Cam Ward this season. One of the outgoings was Dillon Radunz, who will be replaced by Zeitler at right guard this year.

Radunz struggled mightily for the Titans in 2024. The 2022 second-round draft pick was credited with allowing six sacks by Pro Football Focus. Radunz didn't fare much better as a run blocker, scoring a 53.6. He was also whistled for five penalties.

After making a change at GM this offseason, the Titans showed no interest in re-signing Radunz. The former North Dakota State standout signed a one-year contract worth $2.25 million with the New Orleans Saints in free agency. After one preseason game, Radunz is looking like a dud for the Saints.

Radunz played a sizable 55 snaps in the Saints' first preseason game, a 27-13 defeat to the Los Angeles Chargers. Radunz played 44 snaps at left tackle and an additional 11 plays at right tackle. He was not particularly effective.

Radunz was whistled for two penalties and was credited with allowing two sacks via just 22 pass-blocking snaps. He also earned a 48.8 score (PFF) as a run blocker. Radunz failed to make the desired impression.

In fairness, the Saints possibly miscast Radunz at tackle. Even though that was his primary position in college, the Minnesota native enjoyed significantly more success playing guard with the Titans. The Saints would be wise to offer Radunz an opportunity to play across the interior, where his deficiencies are hidden.

The Titans should field an improved offensive line in 2025. Radunz never met expectations in Tennessee. Radunz's early showings in the preseason indicate the Titans made the right decision to move on from a disappointment this offseason.
