Carnell Tate's Week 5 no-show exposes a much bigger Titans problem

This is starting to get ridiculous.

Five weeks. That’s how long the Tennessee Titans have been playing bad football and have now dropped to 0-5 after their humiliating loss to the Houston Texans. You would think that having Brian Daboll as the offensive coordinator would have changed things for the Titans for the better. Right now, it's not even close.

Now, there is so much you could point about this offense. However, one player that is standing out (in a not so great way) is rookie wide receiver Carnell Tate. After his breakout game in Week 4 against the Ravens (9 catches for 145 yards off of 12 targets), Tate's production came crashing down to Earth against the Texans.

Despite getting five targets, Tate came away from Week 5 with just one catch for 6 yards…are you kidding me? Running back Tyjae Spears had nine catches for 28 yards...

Carnell Tate is a blameless victim in Titans' putrid Week 5 showing

You though Tate's first three games were tough to watch? This game against the Texans was absolutely ridiculous from the entire Titans offense. Tate had the chance to get on the board with a touchdown grab, but he couldn't come down with it which kept him off the stat sheet even more than he already was.

The Titans came away with just 187 total yards of offense and they lost the turnover battle by two. Obviously, Tate can't control what happens when Cam Ward has the ball in his hands. At the same time, Tate was drafted by the Titans to help take pressure off of Ward. Him joining a Brian Daboll offense was supposed to be a perfect match.

Again, Week 4 against the Ravens was a great result from Tate...but to follow it up with this kind of performance against a divisional opponent is pathetic.

Titans' offense continues big time struggles (and it affects Carnell Tate)

This has not been an easy five weeks for Titans fans. The offense doesn't look right as they have only reached 20 points once this season. This is now the second time the Titans failed to reach double digit points.

Tate hasn't been a difference maker that fans had been hoping for. It's only October, but the early start to this season is not a great preview for the rest of 2026.

The Titans will now have to get ready for another AFC South matchup as they will head up to Indianapolis to battle the Colts. Could the Titans get their first win there? Let's hope so.
