Cam Ward pick makes Will Levis’ next move painfully obvious

Just as predicted, the Tennessee Titans indeed selected Miami quarterback Cam Ward with the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

It was the league's worst-kept secret, if you could even consider it a secret at all. The Titans now have a brand-new starting quarterback.

Yes, Ward is going to be starting from Day 1. Don't listen to any coach speak from now until training camp or even preseason, no matter how Brian Callahan might try to spin it.

Ward is the starter, period.

And as for Will Levis, that leaves him with one clear option: pound the table for a trade out of Tennessee.

Will Levis must demand a trade after the Titans draft Cam Ward

This might come across as pure hilarity, but it makes too much sense. The ship has sailed on Levis, regardless of what Callahan might try and tell us in the near future.

Speaking of future, there is no future for Levis in Tennessee. The best option for both he and the Titans is for the two sides to part ways. Tennessee needs to cut their losses and acknowledge frustration from Levis' end.

Yes, of course Levis is frustrated. He's not happy about this pick. His job just got pulled out from beneath him. And that's exactly why he needs to ask out of Tennessee.

The Titans would definitely be taking a hit, here, with Levis being a former second-round pick. But, that's history. They now have their shiny, new franchise quarterback in Cam Ward.

As for the potential backup fodder, that's why the Titans signed Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle. They've got a couple veterans to manage the depth aspect. It is time to let Levis go, and you'd have to believe there would be some potential interest for any team that doesn't have their concrete, long-term plan at the position as well.
