Brian Callahan suggests that Titans already have plan in place for No. 1 overall pick

Or maybe that's what he WANTS us to think.

There's never a bad year to have the first overall pick in the NFL Draft. Still, some years are more complicated than others, as the Titans have found since the regular season ended back in January. With no real consensus on who the first player off the board should be – and a roster that could certainly use upgrades at several different positions, including quarterback – the Titans have dealt with a level of uncertainty that usually doesn't come with the first overall pick.

Whether it's taking one of the top 2 QBs in this draft, going best-player-available with Abdul Carter/Travis Hunter, or trading down, basically every Titans scenario out there still feels entirely possible. And while keeping other teams guessing all the way up to draft night isn't by any means a bad idea, it sounds like – at least internally – the team's pretty close to figuring out what the plan is.

While talking to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Titans head coach Brian Callahan admitted that he, GM Mike Mike Borgonzi, and the rest of Tennessee's front office already has a good idea of what's going to happen.

The Titans may have already decided what their plan with the No. 1 overall pick is

"We're getting closer for sure, all of the processes are moving right along," he said. "...I would say we have a pretty good feel for what direction we're headed by early April here, and you put the final touches on it and tie the bow over it by the time you get to the draft."

It's obviously not a ton to go off, but it is surprisingly honest for an NFL head coach. Most coaches keep that type of information extremely close to the chest, so kudos to Callahan for giving us something to work with. Is it true?! Who knows. Also, who cares? Never let the details get in the way of a good blog. If the Titans want to let other teams think they've made up their mind as some sort of a leverage play, I'm okay with that – it's not every year you get to wield the power of 1.01. At least, hopefully not every year.
