The Tennessee Titans are among 10 NFL teams entering the 2025 campaign with a playoff drought of at least three-plus seasons. Among those teams, the Titans are tied with three other franchises for the shortest drought at precisely three seasons. The new regime is attempting to restore the organization to glory.
Despite three playoff-less campaigns in a row, the Titans are rebuilding the right way. After years of towing the line between a reload and a rebuild, owner Amy Adams Strunk fully committed to the process this offseason. She appointed a patient GM in Mike Borgonzi, who used his No. 1 overall selection on rookie quarterback Cam Ward with a draft-and-develop strategy at the center of his long-term plans.
Bleacher Report recently combed through all 10 franchises facing lengthier postseason droughts. B/R provided one reason to buy and one reason to sell each team in 2025. For the Titans, they sound far more convinced that this is a multi-year rebuild that won't result in a playoff appearance this campaign.
Bleacher Report is "selling" Titans in 2025
"Why we're selling: This is still a team that hasn’t won a home game in regulation since 2023," Brad Gagnon wrote. "They do have plenty of experience, but those vets (Dan Moore Jr., Kevin Zeitler, Tyler Lockett) may just be doing more harm than good to this rebuild. The Titans aren’t a factor right now."
Gagnon also acknowledged that the AFC South is unpredictable and erratic enough to make the Titans potential division title contenders. Ward is also a wild card, bringing a fresh degree of optimism to the Nashville-based club. You never know, as Jayden Daniels proved in Washington last season.
The Titans wallowed in purgatory for three straight seasons while chasing the ghost of their 2019-21 success. The franchise is now resetting things appropriately, and that begins with Borgonzi and Ward at the helm. Titans fans shouldn't realistically expect postseason success in 2025, but brighter days are undeniably ahead.
