The Tennessee Titans have made their first selection in the 2022 NFL Draft, and it was Treylon Burks who figures to replace A.J. Brown who was traded to get the selection.

For right now, let’s put the A.J. Brown trade aside and focus on what the Tennessee Titans got with their first-round pick.

Here’s what that means if you’re a Tennessee Titans fan.

No more A.J. Brown, but the Titans got the closest thing to A.J. Brown in Treylon Burks who was one of the best receivers in college football in terms of getting yards after the catch. All you have to do is put on his tape against Alabama to see him proving that speed plus size is more valuable than a 40-time.

Treylon Burks is one of the three receivers in this class that I believe had the potential to be a WR1 one day and he will be asked to come to Nashville and take on a massive role. Luckily he will share that responsibility with Bobby Trees and he will have an excellent leader in that wide receiver room.

What did the Tennessee Titans miss out on?

Including the A.J. Brown trade, they are losing on maybe one of the top-10 best receivers in the NFL?

Excluding the Brown trade, they really did a great job taking the best player available who is also a player at a position of need. When they traded for this pick he was the best-case scenario and that is what they did, so there is nothing more they could have done with the 18th pick in the draft.

Remember, this wasn’t the Titans choosing not to pay A.J. Brown, it was them getting to a point where they just couldn’t make a deal make sense with Brown seemingly wanting to be paid like a top-2 receiver in the NFL.

Going forward the Titans need to prove that they can make better use of the $25 million per year that Brown was going to cost, but getting Burks helps ease the pain because he is an outstanding player that fits this team perfectly.
