Would the Tennessee Titans be interested?

People forget this, but Amari Cooper was very close to being traded to the Tennessee Titans earlier in his career.

You might remember that the Cowboys traded a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft for Amari Cooper right before the 2018 trade deadline. He ended up in Dallas because the Cowboys offered a 1st round pick straight up, while the Tennessee Titans were offering a 1st round pick and a 2nd round pick swap.

Thank goodness for the Cowboys, because in that scenario the Titans wouldn’t have had the pick to draft Jeffery Simmons and they wouldn’t have needed a receiver in the second round so they likely would have passed on A.J. Brown.

Now the Tennessee Titans could get a chance to have their cake and eat it too by signing Cooper in free agency this year.

Could they make a deal work?

The short answer is yes.

Even if the Titans were set on re-signing Harold Landry (which they should be) they could move over enough money to keep him and Amari Cooper on contracts with $17 million per year. There are two ways that they could open up that kind of space, but which one would they choose?
