Titans vs Bengals Tale of the Tape: Field goal kicking

Neither the Cincinnati Bengals nor the Tennessee Titans will feel comfortable if this game boils down to kicking field goals. Simply put, both squads rank near the bottom of the barrel in that regard.

Evan McPherson of the Bengals and Randy Bullock of the Titans aren’t nailing any game winning field goals for their respective squads anytime soon. McPherson wrapped his season with a field goal percentage of 84.8. Just behind him, ironically enough, was Bullock, as he connected on just 83.9% of his kicks. Both ranked 19th and 20th respectively.

The symmetry of their games doesn’t stop there as we noticed other patterns as well. In both cases, McPherson and Bullock missed five goals collectively all year long. They also weren’t very precise from 40-49 yards. From that distance, Bullock connected on just 8 of his 13 kicks, McPherson went 6-9.

Verdict: Tie

The Cincinnati Bengals and Tennessee Titans are both considered below average kicking teams. If the game comes down to who can hit field goals when it matters most, both fan bases will be on the edge of their seats. In our opinion, both of these squads are equally as bad in the kicking department.
