Tennessee Titans K Sam Ficken

This one might be a little bit of a shock since Randy Bullock has made nearly all of his kicks this season, but this isn’t necessarily a move to replace Bullock.

Common sense says that no one should keep two kickers on their roster, but the Tennessee Titans have had terrible luck with kickers over the last three years and if anyone needs stability and peace of mind at the kicker position, it is the Minnesota Vikings. Sorry, for some reason it is impossible to finish that sentence with any team name other than the Minnesota Vikings, but pretend it says Tennessee Titans.

Anyway, the move that needs to be made is simple. Rashad Weaver is going to be out for a little while after suffering an injury and it seems like a move to I.R. is coming soon with the only question being whether or not he can return this season.

Jon Robinson should use the spot created by that move and add Sam Ficken.

The reason why that would work is that the Titans have spent the entire season with Derick Roberson or Rashad Weaver as a healthy scratch. Well, now Weaver is going to be scratched anyway and Roberson is going to be active so then you can use that spot on the inactive list for whichever kicker you don’t want to play.

On top of that, the Titans found a diamond in the rough at EDGE that has had a monster start to the season, so the Roberson isn’t going to be feeling any more pressure by this move.

If Bullock keeps playing well, great then he can keep starting and the Tennessee Titans won’t lose Ficken. If Bullock starts to fall off, then you have a guy who was stellar in preseason on the roster ready to go.

The Titans wouldn’t lose anything in this transaction and they could bring an EDGE onto the practice squad to fill out the numbers in practice. Win-win.
