Tennessee Titans: 3 Things that went wrong, why they won’t reoccur
By Will Lomas
So, what happened to the Tennessee Titans again?
Have you ever been so excited for Christmas morning only to find that your stocking was full of coal…and on fire…and someone robbed you in the middle of the night? Well, then you know exactly how Tennessee Titans fans felt yesterday.
After an offensive letdown at home against the Baltimore Ravens in the playoffs last year, Tennessee Titans fans were itching to see what the trio of Derrick Henry, Julio Jones, and A.J. Brown could do to avenge that pathetic 13-point loss in January.
What they got… was another 13-point loss in September.
It was embarrassing and even worse than that, it reminded local fans why they didn’t go to games. The stadium was loud in key moments on Sunday and they forced a false start and miscommunication for the Arizona Cardinals’ offense on more than one occasion.
That probably won’t happen again in 2021 because those fans were rewarded with the worst home loss to open a season in franchise history.
The offense looked bad and helpless to put up points despite adding even more talent to the roster this offseason. Defensively, they look better than they you would think based on the score, but in key moments they looked terrible, and at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how good you are on first and second down if you get embarrassed on third down.
You can point to three things that really caused the Tennessee Titans to lose (and lose badly), and despite the fact that this will sound overly optimistic, these are all things that can be fixed fairly quickly.
