Questions Tennessee Titans 1st 53-man roster answered about the defense

After a disappointing showing by the defensive unit in 2020, there’s a ton of optimism as Tennessee heads into 2021. They have ballhawks and headhunters everywhere. Here are some initial reactions after another look at the 53-man roster.

1. Derick Roberson may be in some danger.

Obviously, Harold Landry is going to be a part of this team as soon as he’s activated from the Reserve/COVID-19 list. Tennessee has four outside linebackers on their roster already: Bud Dupree, Rashad Weaver, Ola Adeniyi, and Derick Roberson.

The latter name on that list, Mr. Roberson appears to be in some danger, as are a few of these defensive backs.

2. Don’t invest a ton of thought in how many defensive backs are here.

The Tennessee Titans also, at the time of this story being published, house seven cornerbacks (Jackrabbit Jenkins, Kristian Fulton, Elijah Molden, Breon Borders, Caleb Farley, Chris Jones, Chris Jackson,) and six safeties (Kevin Byard, Amani Hooker, Bradley McDougald, Matthias Farley, Dane Cruikshank, Brady Breeze). That won’t carry into the regular season.

Trending. Jenkins confidence in Farley is growing. light

Four of the guys on the COVID-19 list are starters (QB Ryan Tannehill, C Ben Jones, RG Nate Davis, OLB Harold Landry). Geoff Swaim will be a part of this team once he’s ready too. If Tennessee sheds guys to make room, they may start with the secondary.

That’s potentially bad news for Dane Cruikshank, Brady Breeze, Bradley McDougald, and Chris Jones. They’re officially back on the chopping block.
