Perhaps one of the most interesting narratives about the coming Tennessee Titans season revolves around whether or not the best running back on Planet Earth, Derrick Henry, can rush for 2,000 yards again during the coming 2021 regular season.

Maybe you’ve been living under a rock, but here’s the update. At the end of the 2020-2021 regular season, King Henry joined former Titan Chris Johnson as one of eight men that have joined the 2,000-yard club. O. J. Simpson, Eric Dickerson, Barry Sanders, Terrell Davis, Jamal Lewis, Adrian Peterson are the other six.

Now, if an effort like that doesn’t scream ‘MVP’, the word ‘valuable’ needs to be refined. Then again, it’s hard to argue with the decision to give the trophy to Aaron Rodgers last season, but let’s get back to the original thought. What if Derrick Henry rushes for 2,000 yards or something close to that again in 2021? What if he leads the NFL in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns again?

It would be hard to snub the guy again, right? Well, wouldn’t it?

Titans star Derrick Henry has the best odds of all non-QBs to win MVP.

Here’s a little something to whet the whistle if you’re looking to place a wager or if you’re a Titans fan (or both). According to WynnBET, Derrick Henry and Christian McCaffrey are both tied for the best odds of any NFL non-quarterback to win the Most Valuable Player Award at +4000.

They trail some of the guys whose names you’re almost certain to hear at various points of the season (or all season for that matter): Patrick Mahomes  (+450), Aaron Rodgers (+800), Josh Allen (+1000), Tom Brady (+1200), Lamar Jackson (+1500), Russell Wilson (+1500), Dak Prescott (+1700), Matthew Stafford (+1700), Deshaun Watson (+2000), Justin Herbert (+2000), Kyler Murray (+2000), fellow Titan Ryan Tannehill (+2500), Baker Mayfield (+3000).

Who are we kidding? Sure, Henry’s deserving. He’s been deserving for the past two seasons, and the Titans have no shot without him. To most of us, that’s what it means to be ‘valuable’. Still, it’s impossible to win this award unless you’re a quarterback, right?
