Tennessee Titans safeties (4)
Who made the cut: Kevin Byard, Amani Hooker, Dane Cruikshank, Brady Breeze
The Tennessee Titans needed a big year from Kevin Byard and Kenny Vaccaro last year after Logan Ryan was released. There is no sugar coating it, it turned out to be the worst year of Kevin Byard’s career and the Titans were displeased enough with Vaccaro to cut him.
Kevin Byard has been one of the best safeties in the NFL since he got on the field, and for three years he was incredibly underrated. However, he needs a bounceback season in the worst way and the Titans saw that as well which is why they re-tooled the entire defense around him.
Meanwhile, Dane Cruikshank missed the whole season with an injury putting his spot on this list in a little bit of jeopardy.
The one safety who did have a good season was Amani Hooker who took a monstrous leap forward. Despite only starting three games in 2020 and despite playing more than 40% of the defensive snaps only five times all year, Hooker was tied for the team lead in interceptions (4) and was tied for second in pass deflections (8).
Brady Breeze seems like a special teams guy along with his fellow 6th round pick Racey McMath, and with the lack of depth at safety, he has a great chance of making the roster.
