Tennessee Titans off-ball linebackers (4)

Who made the cut: Jayon Brown, David Long, Rashaan Evans, Monty Rice

Depending on how the Tennessee Titans play this, they can either have one of their most exciting combinations of linebackers in recent history or they can have a gaping hole in the middle of the field.

Jayon Brown has been up and down since he started sustaining injuries in 2019, but when he is healthy he has the speed and instincts to play with anyone in the league. Whether he is asked to blitz, cover running backs out of the backfield, play zone, or just read and react, he has all the skills to be a long-time starter if he can just stay healthy and aggressive.

The man beside him should be David Long. Sure, he has a hair-trigger when he decides to come downhill and attack, but it is better to be completely committed and go for it than to sit and wait for something to come to you.

Rashaan Evans is the guy that Tennessee Titans fans will have an eye on this year. He gets the label of a downhill thumper with a reputation of being someone that can give you some looks at EDGE, but in reality, he has a lot of limitations.

Last year he looked completely lost and every game there were double-digit examples of mental errors both small and big (like when he punched a Denver Bronco and got kicked out of the season opener).

The Tennessee Titans spend a third-round pick on Monty Rice and Jon Robinson doesn’t spend third-round picks on guys that he expects to sit on the bench. Expect to see Rice push hard for a job that he might be handed at the end of the season.
