Tennessee Titans fans must watch 3 Falcons games featuring Julio Jones
By Will Lomas
Tennessee Titans fans have to watch what Julio did to Carolina in 2016.
Playing at an elite level over the course of a season is much more difficult than making a mark in one huge game. That is the only way to explain the fact that there are fewer players with 1,850 receiving yard seasons than players with 300-plus receiving yards in a single game.
In Week 4 of the 2016 season, Julio Jones became the most recent player to do this joining Calvin Johnson (again), Flipper Anderson, and Stephone Paige.
Aside from a 300-yard game being a clear must-watch, there is another reason why this was such a great game from Julio Jones.
With less than 12 minutes left in the 4th quarter, the Atlanta Falcons were up 34-10 at home. Fast forward to where there are just eight in-game minutes remaining, and things get really interesting. The Carolina Panthers score, and it’s a one-possession game. They also have all three timeouts left.
With the game on the line, Julio Jones scores on a catch-and-run 75-yard touchdown that extends the lead and preserves a huge divisional win for the Falcons. This one was foreshadowing for what would occur a few months later in the Super Bowl, but Julio couldn’t even save the Falcons in that game.
