Tennessee Titans news: 3 Takeaways from Julio Jones first full day
For the Tennessee Titans, mandatory minicamp begins on June 15th, and it runs through the 17th. The final voluntary offseason practice, one that was open to the media, is officially in our rear-view mirrors, and though Denico Autry was in attendance for the first time, other notables like A.J. Brown, Janoris Jenkins, Taylor Lewan, Bud Dupree, and Derrick Henry were still absent.
In the words, even though he probably would have been anyway had those guys shown up, Julio Jones was the major topic of discussion. This was a full day for him as he participated in practice and spoke with the media afterward. Buckle up. We have much to discuss.
Here are three takeaways from Julio Jones’ full day with the Tennessee Titans.
1. So far, so good with the workouts.
The hamstring looks okay! June 10th marks the first day that Number 2 participated in on-field drills with his new team. He got some work in with Ryan Tannehill. He did some red-zone work and all of the receiver drills.
To make long stories shorter, there isn’t a ton to gain from non-contact practices with no pads, but it appears things are off to a good start for him physically. Check him out.
2. Other guys are making names for themselves.
There are two other Titans receivers that you want to make note of. Former Grambling standout Chester Rogers is quietly making a name for himself, and Marcus Johnson is someone who could sneak onto the roster, if he continues to have a good camp.
The last day of voluntary practice was a good one for him.
3. What about those health concerns?
Jones missed seven games in 2020, including the final four of the Atlanta Falcons’ campaign as he dealt with a hamstring issue. Obviously, with him being 32 years old, some will question his age and whether or not he’s able to bounce back quickly. Julio addressed all of that in his first presser as a member of the Titans.
Everyone has their opinion. Here’s one from a large contingent of the Titan Sized staff. Try not to worry until there’s something to worry about.
Yes, it’s true. Julio Jones hasn’t missed six games or more since his third season in 2013, but he’s been relatively healthy having handled the full 16-game slate four times and having played in at least 15 games two more times during his ten-year career.
His 11th could be truly special. Again, buckle up. The coming Tennessee Titans season could be tons of fun guys.
