Predicting every Tennessee Titans pick on second day of 2021 NFL Draft
By Will Lomas
The Tennessee Titans select Tommy Tremble, a tight end from Notre Dame.
In a weak defensive line class, the Tennessee Titans finish Day 2 by fixing every hole on the roster except the defensive line.
Instead of spending a premium pick on someone who isn’t graded as a top-100 player, the Titans select Tommy Tremble in a spot very close to where they drafted Jonnu Smith a few years ago. Oddly enough, Tremble is almost the opposite of Jonnu Smith.
While both are athletic with big frames, Smith came into the league as a receiving threat tucked inside a tight end’s body. Tremble, on the other hand, plays like an offensive lineman or a fullback with boosted athleticism.
That is good because the Titans already have their receiving threat at tight end in Anthony Firkser, but what they don’t have is a jack-of-all-trades type. Geoff Swaim is a good blocking tight end, but he is probably going to end up in the Craig Stevens, Anthony Fasano mold as a guy who fans want to see get more targets, but who doesn’t ever do anything special with those catches.
Taking Christiansen and Tremble back-to-back would be a nice way of reminding everyone that while the defense has gotten a lot of attention and while they landed their speedster in the slot, this is a team that wants to dominate opponents on the ground and they are deep and talented enough to do so.
