Tennessee Titans add to offensive line before NFL Draft
Well, don’t take your eyes off of the Tennessee Titans and their general manager Jon Robinson for a second. That’s the moral of this story. We’ve been wondering what they’d do with the 22nd-overall selection. Some of us even thought that they’d make their nine picks in the 2021 NFL Draft and then fill any remaining holes afterward.
We sure were wrong, weren’t we?
Let’s get some of you Tennessee Titans fans caught up.
Seven days prior to the 2021 selection meeting, Tennessee signed four defensive prospects to the roster seemingly out of nowhere. Many of us thought that they were done then. Surely, they’d make their nine picks, reassess, and then fill in any remaining holes with undrafted free agents and inexpensive veteran talent later right? Titan Sized’s own Bryce Lazenby even named five possibilities.
Tennessee wasn’t done though. In another move that was most unexpected, the Titans added another vet to the roster just hours before the 2021 NFL Draft officially got underway. This one plays on offense. His name is Elijah Nkansah, an offensive lineman that the Tennessee Titans claimed off of waivers after the rival Indianapolis Colts let him go a day earlier.
You can check out the Tennessee Titans official site for more information.
Nkansah, a 26-year-old offensive tackle that the Titans signed as an undrafted free agent out of Toledo in 2018, has seen four rosters in his NFL career. This is his second stint in Nashville. For now, this appears to be a depth signing. We’ll have to wait and see if this affects the draft strategy for Tennessee on Day 2 or Day 3. Put a huge asterisk by this young man’s name.
So far in his NFL career, he’s played in one game with no starts. We’ll see how he progresses once we all arrive at training camp. He may have an uphill climb to make the final 53-man roster.
