One more Tennessee Titans seven-round NFL mock draft
Don’t forget about the Tennessee Titans’ need for a backup quarterback.
Here’s a very real possibility for the Tennessee Titans in 2020 though people don’t seem to talk about it as much. Ryan Tannehill could get hurt, and if he does, the Super Bowl dreams could die immediately on that day.
Tannehill missed 12 regular-season games between 2016 and 2019. Now, keep in mind the fact that he was a backup to Marcus Mariota in 2019. He hasn’t missed any time other than that. He started all 16 games of every season from 2012 to 2015 and all 16 games in 2020, but the Titans would be wise to add some insurance to their quarterback room. Otherwise, if the unthinkable happens they’re rolling with Logan Woodside or DeShone Kizer.
There will be no victory parade in February if Tennessee walks into the playoffs with Woodside or Kizer. That’s a promise. It’s time this team finds a legitimate backup QB, and after addressing all of their other needs in rounds one through five, Round 6 seems like a nice spot to pick up a project.
K.J. Costello may not be the prototypical signal-caller, but he can be coached. Plus, the thought of adding him feels better than the thought of adding more popular names with limited skill sets like Ian Book (Notre Dame), Sam Ehlinger (Texas), or Feleipe Franks (Arkansas).
