The Tennessee Titans close things out with another edge guy.
What’s that saying? Oh yes! We remember! You can never have too many edge rushers. Tennessee is a few players from getting back to the AFC Championship Game at the end of the 2021-2022 NFL season, and one of the best ways that they’ll ensure doing so is by nailing the late picks of their upcoming selection meeting.
With that being said, we close things out by adding Shaka Toney. He’s a six-foot-three, 252-pound defensive end and outside linebacker hybrid out of the Penn State Nittany Lions program.
Toney can play with his hand in the dirt or standing up. He’s probably best suited to play in the 3-4 scheme.
2020 was a nice year for this young man as he improved as a run defender and demonstrated nice ability as a pass rusher. For those of you that like numbers, Toney’s were on point. He hauled the ball carrier down 31 times in eight games. That includes 7.5 that resulted in a loss of yardage.
Add that to five sacks in those eight games and you’ve got a career stat line that looks like this: 111 total tackles (28.5 for a loss of yardage), 20 sacks, four forced fumbles, and four pass breakups over the course of his 40-game career.
