Round 3

With the 76th overall pick, the Titans select…Tommy Tremble TE, Notre Dame

Does he fit a need?

I think so. If it was just any tight end, I would be hesitant to say yes because I think the Titans are looking for a very specific type of tight end.

They already have a guy who is going to primarily be a blocker for them, in fact, you could argue that Geoff Swaim and Khari Blasingame both fill that roll even though they line up in different places.

Anthony Firsker has already established himself as the receiver of the tight end group and actually projects to be more of the new-age hybrid jumbo slot tight ends in this offense.

So to fill a need, they need a tight end who is athletic enough to catch tough passes over the middle and attack the intermediate part of the field, but also someone who you can line up on the end of the line and not tip your hand on whether you are running or passing.

Tremble is one of the few tight ends in his class who fits that description.

Is he a value?

Yes, but I think I am overvaluing how much of a need that they think tight end is. Keep in mind that Jon Robinson has only spent one draft pick on a tight end in the five years he has been drafting for the Titans. In fact, the only position that he has spent less draft capital on is center according to this chart.
