Quality or quantity for Titans?

The Tennessee Titans are going to do something to attempt the problem at EDGE this offseason, the question is what resources they are willing to spend.

Last year the Titans added a former sack leader on a one-year contract and a Pro Bowl EDGE who was supposed to help as a two-way player in this defense. Well, fast forward a year, and both players are gone indicating that Vrabel thinks that the problem was with the talent and not the defensive coaching staff.

Alright.

Thankfully, both players were signed to one-year contracts and there is no cap-related issue in 2021.

However, the Titans only have two EDGEs under contract for 2021 and while Harold Landry is a strong starter and a known commodity, it has been a mixed bag from Derick Roberson.

So, let’s say that the Tennessee Titans find $20 million to spend in free agency this year at the EDGE position. The question they have to be asking themselves right now is whether they should go after one blue-chip player or two above-average players.

Now, on instinct, I know most Titans fans are going to say that they would love the blue-chip player, but that means that you are one injury away from being right back where you were at the end of 2020.

Then again, dominance is better than depth if everyone is healthy, so would it be worth rolling the dice if it is a player that can single-handedly change the Titans defense?

Let’s talk about it.
