Tight End

Starters returning (0 of 2): Anthony Firkser (RFA)

Key backups: None

This position group is anyone’s guess at this point because Jonnu Smith, MyCole Pruitt and Geoff Swaim are all scheduled to be UFAs and Firkser is actually scheduled to be an RFA so he could be gone (even though I think the chances of that are very low).

Right now I think that Titans fans need to assume that the chances of Jonnu Smith returning are about 50-50 because he is going to have a strong argument to be the top tight end on the market this offseason.

Those odds are probably even worse if you think that Corey Davis is a bigger free agent priority for the Titans than Jonnu Smith (which he should be).

Luckily, the Titans have been able to get production from whichever tight end they have put on the field and that includes Swaim who they picked up off the free agent pile right before the beginning of the season.

Given the lack of success that tight ends have in their rookie year, this is a tricky position to say “Well, they can just draft someone to replace Jonnu.” so it isn’t as cut and dry as asking whether Corey Davis or Jonnu Smith are more important.

Still, at the end of the day I think that this is a position that is going to see some change this offseason.
