Round 3, pick 93: Darrynton Evans, RB

This is another pick that made sense on paper.

Derrick Henry, fresh off the rushing title and huge contract extension, was shouldering a huge load that seemed unsustainable for the long-term. Adding a dynamic pass-catching threat to the backfield made sense, especially after the disappointing Dion Lewis tenure came to an end.

But, as the trend continues, this pick has also provided nothing of value to this point. Evans has only 5 attempts on the season due to injury. To make matters worse, veteran journeymen D’Onta Foreman and Jeremy McNichols have actually looked decent in his stead.

Even if Evans regains his health, the play of Foreman and McNichols behind Henry might be enough to keep Evans sideline for a while.

The jury is still out on this pick because unlike Jackson and Murchison, Evans’s reason for irrelevance is due to injury, and not underperformance. I could still see Evans turning into a valuable role-player.
