Round 7, pick 224: Cole McDonald, QB

In theory, this pick did make some sense at the time.

Before this pick was made, Logan Woodside was the only QB on the roster behind Ryan Tannehill. Obviously, that would make anyone a little uneasy. I assume Jon Robinson and Mike Vrabel were hoping they could find a diamond in the rough who could at the very least be a solid backup QB one day.

Unfortunately, McDonald did not impress in his limited time as a Titan and was cut just a few months after being drafted. This implies that the coaches weren’t all that impressed with what they were seeing, and apparently, nobody else was either because McDonald is now signed on to play in The Spring League.

Can’t fault the Titans for trying, but it’s fair to question Robinson’s QB evaluations. Luke Falk and Cole McDonald were both drafted by Robinson in the backend of the draft, and neither one of them even made it to opening day.

Grade: F
