Round 7, pick 243: Chris Jackson, DB

Chris Jackson was one of the last picks of the draft, so the fact that even made the team is somewhat impressive.

Unfortunately, that’s about where the impressiveness ends. Jackson has been just “ok”. He has contributed 20 tackles and plays a decent amount of snaps on special teams, but he looks completely overmatched in pass coverage.

It’s unfair to be too critical of this pick: it made sense to draft some defensive back depth, and you aren’t expecting much from a 7th rounder anyway. But to this point, Jackson seems to have limited upside and looks poised to be a special teams contributor if he hopes to stick around on an NFL roster.

Breon Borders, a journeyman who’s only been on the team for a month, has been given more playing time recently, cutting into Jackson’s workload. That should tell you all you need to know.
