28. Atlanta Falcons (+0)

The Falcons have won 3 of their last 4 games, so why can’t I move them up any higher in these power rankings? If I had to sum it up in one sentence, I would just say that they lack a killer instinct.

In fact, if I had to go deeper I would say that while most teams at the top of these power rankings could “win any game they play” the Falcons would be better described as a team that could “lose any game they play”.

They are talented, and they have one of the best WR/TE groups in the NFL, but all of the goodwill they earned in a dominating first 3 quarters was burned away as the Denver Broncos put up 21 points in the 4th quarter and threatened yet another historic comeback on the Falcons.

27. Carolina Panthers (+0)

Call it a moral victory or say whatever you want, but leading against the Chiefs for the majority of the game for a team that is in a rebuilding year, is impressive to me.

In fact, now that I look at these power rankings, this is sort of the same issue that I have with the L.A. Chargers. Both of these teams have looked good for what they are and they have looked good when they weren’t supposed to look good, but when you look at the actual wins and losses it is hard to justify moving them up based on recent performance.

I should say, Curtis Samuel is good and it is a shame that he isn’t featured on a more dominant team.
