10. Stephon Gostkowski, K
I am probably higher than most on Gostkowski because since Week 2 I don’t think any of the kicking woes have been his fault.
Too often the field goal or PAT unit has been leaky in their protection and has let guys come into the backfield freely to block kicks. After that, kickers rush their kicks and it throws them completely off for the rest of the game.
On top of that, he had to deal with Beau Brinkley who had issues long snapping for most of the season and whose most recent botch on an extra point attempt ended up costing points AND getting punter/holder Brett Kern hurt.
The only 50+ yard kick that Gostkowski has missed this year was the one against the Bengals in winds ranging from 20-30 MPH. On the other hand, he has made several this season and he was crucial in games against the Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars where his kicks actually won the game for Tennessee.
Honestly, the only reason I wouldn’t want him to re-sign after the season is because of his age and I can see a scenario where better long snapping and protection puts him in a much better light.
