12. Jadeveon Clowney, EDGE

I don’t think that Jadeveon Clowney has been bad, but there are going to be a lot of factors that make him difficult to re-sign after this season.

Last year he made a mistake and overvalued his market, and maybe he does that again, but if I was his agent pitching him to other teams I would say something along the lines of:

“COVID-19 prevented us from getting a deal done as quickly as possible, but Jadeveon is fully committed to signing immediately and showing up day one of training camp. Last season with Tennessee he spent the first half of the season flashing and pressuring QBs but couldn’t finish because of a historically bad 3rd down defense. As if to prove that my client wasn’t at fault, the Titans made a trade at the deadline to improve the CB position and cut Johnathan Joseph who had started every game for them that season.”

That is a very compelling argument and there were a lot of teams interested in Clowney at different points in free agency.

Are the Titans going to be willing to offer him enough money to stay without even testing the market? Is he worth that sort of commitment and the loss of a potential compensatory pick? I don’t think so.
